Distribution of gross revenue

For a payout, all parties receive their money in a specific order:

  1. Tax office
  2. Digistore24
  3. Affiliate(s)
  4. Vendor

Depending on the country in which your product is sold to the end customer, different amounts of VAT must be paid to the respective tax offices, which in turn affects the amount of your payout.

Example: Calculation of the payout for German end customers

For German customers, 19% VAT is paid to the German tax office.

The scenario is as follows:

  1. German end customer
  2. 100 € gross purchase price (including 19% VAT in Germany)
  3. 50 % affiliate commission

Order of payouts to each party:

  1. German tax office (19 % VAT): 15.97 €
  2. Digistore24 (7.9 % + 1 €): 8.90 €
  3. Affiliate net payout: 33.80 € + 3.76 €*
  4. Vendor net payout: 33.80 € + 3.76 €*

* The security deposit (10% of the purchase amount) will be paid out 60 days after the purchase. This is a normal, customary internal safety precaution. More information can be found here.

As a German vendor/affiliate, you will receive all net amounts plus 19% VAT (gross). However, this rule does not apply for small business owners. In this case, the net amount is paid.

Example: Calculation of the payout for EU end customers

EU end customers pay the VAT of each respective country and Digistore24 then pays it to the local tax office.

The scenario is as follows:

  1. Hungarian end customer (EU country)
  2. 100 € gross purchase price (including 27 % VAT in Hungary)
  3. 50 % affiliate commission

Order of payouts to each party:

  1. Hungarian tax office (27 % VAT): 21.26 €
  2. Digistore24 (7.9 % + 1 €): 8.90 €
  3. Affiliate net payout: 31.43 € + 3.49 €*
  4. Vendor net payout: 31.43 € + 3.49 €*

Example: Calculation of payout for non-EU end customers

Non-EU end customers do not have to pay VAT.

The scenario is as follows:

  1. Norwegian end customer (non-EU country)
  2. 100 € gross purchase price (0 % VAT since the buyer land is not in the EU)
  3. 50 % affiliate commission

Order of payouts to each party:

  1. Norwegian tax office (0 % VAT): 0 €
  2. Digistore24 (7.9 % + 1 €): 8.90 €
  3. Affiliate net payout: 41.00 € + 4.55 €*
  4. Vendor net payout: 41.00 € + 4.55 €*

Special case of Switzerland:

Although Switzerland does not belong to the EU, 8% VAT must be paid to the Swiss tax office. You can find more information about this in the Digistore24 article Information on the new VAT Act of 01.01.2015
